Benjamin’s custom SSD
I first met Benjamin at our local Celtic Festival in Goderich Ontario. Benjamin approached me about building him a guitar that would have the look and feel of a vintage instrument, but built to withstand the rigours of a busy touring schedule on the road.
We started with the Slope Shoulder Dreadnought shape, a shape Benjamin has always loved. The neck dimension (scale, string spacing, etc) were taken from Benjamin’s Waterloo Jumbo King which he had been previously been touring with. The bracing is a pattern was inspired by vintage Gibson designs, with a few tweaks for increase stability. A dark sunburst finish and unique star inlay round out a guitar that is both visually stunning and has a sound to match.
The random stars and planets headstock inlay was inspired some vintage banjo headstocks that Benjamin had seen.
